Due to an injury, Cristiano Ronaldo will not get the chance to reunite with Lionel Messi, Al-Nassr coach Luis Castro announced on Wednesday.

Ronaldo is reportedly recuperating from a calf injury, therefore he won’t be ready to participate in Thursday’s exhibition match between Al-Nassr and Inter Miami in Riyadh.

Before rejoining the squad, Cristiano is nearing the end of his recovery. We anticipate that he will begin working with the team in the coming days. Thus, it will undoubtedly mean that he misses the match (against Inter Miami),” Castro stated at a press conference.

When they were playing in Spain, Messi and Ronaldo were bitter rivals for Barcelona and Real Madrid, respectively. Between them, they have won 13 of the previous 15 Ballon d’Or trophies awarded to the greatest player in the world.

Two games in Saudi Arabia were part of Miami’s preseason trip, and the most anticipated event was the newest chapter in that rivalry.

But when Ronaldo got hurt and Al-Nassr had to cancel two exhibition games in China this month, it was called into question.

Messi scored during Monday’s 4-3 loss of Miami against Al-Hilal.
