Data on Electoral Bonds made public: The Election Commission received data on electoral bonds from the State Bank of India and uploaded it to its website today.

The State Bank of India (SBI) provided data on electoral bonds, which the Election Commission of India posted on its website on Thursday.

The State Bank of India gave the commission the information on the electoral bonds on March 12, according to a media statement from the poll regulator.

According to the press release, “it may be recalled that in the said matter, ECI has consistently and categorically weighed in favour of disclosure and transparency, a position reflected in the Hon’ble Supreme court’s proceedings and noted in the order also.”

The Supreme Court ordered the SBI to provide the information to the ECI by March 6 in order to terminate the Electoral Bond Scheme, 2018. By March 13th, the ECI was directed to make the data available.

But on March 4, the bank filed a motion with the court asking for an extension until June 30, claiming that it took a lot of time to match each donation to the appropriate party. The court made it clear on Monday that it had not requested that the matching exercise be carried out and ordered the bank to provide the ECI with the buyer’s name, the date and denomination of each bond sold, as well as the name of the party, the date of redemption, and the denomination of each bond redeemed starting on April 12, 2019, by Tuesday at the latest, during business hours.

In compliance with the Supreme Court’s directives, the SBI provided the Election Commission with information on the purchase and redemption of electoral bonds on Tuesday night.
