Starting at 5 p.m. today, the Maharashtra Association of Resident Doctors Central (MARD) will launch a statewide indefinite strike in protest of inadequate dormitory accommodations, low pay, and unpaid arrears.

Doctors,The president of MARD, Dr. Abhijit Helge, voiced displeasure, saying that the authorities have not been able to solve the terrible condition that resident physicians are in, even though many past strikes were called off in good faith.
The sincere worries expressed by resident physicians appear to have gone unheeded in spite of many appeals. To guarantee that their justifiable requests are met, the representative group of resident physicians felt obliged to adopt this extreme measure.

The group has made it clear that emergency services would continue to run in order to guarantee that individuals receive necessary medical treatment while on strike.”Around 8,000 resident doctors across the state will be on strike, demanding better hostel accommodation, a hike in stipend, and clearance of arrears,” said Dr. Abhijit Helge.
A top JJ Hospital executive addressed the walkout by stating that special plans had been taken to meet patient demands. “We’ve requested academics and senior physicians to assist with OPD duties. In order to cover the voids, we have also requested more employees from hospitals managed by BMC,” the official added.
