Conversely, Varsha Gaikwad, the leader of the Congress party’s Mumbai unit and MLA, took aim at Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the Bharatiya Janata Party about the Dharavi reconstruction project that Adani won. “All contracts are being obtained by the ‘friend’ from Dharavi to the airport colony.”

Congress MLAs Varsha Gaikwad attacked the BJP and Adani Group over the redevelopment of Dharavi, while Mumbai BJP chief and Bandra MLA Ashish Shelar demanded a white paper on the unequal supply of water to the city’s citizens and held the Thackeray faction of Sena responsible for it during the opening of the lower house debate on Wednesday.

Shelar said that despite spending ₹30,000 crore, the BMC, which was ruled by the Thackeray family over the previous 25 years, was unable to provide the people with enough water. “The 24-hour water supply effort has not succeeded, and a comprehensive investigation is necessary to uncover the truth behind it. A white paper about it ought to be released by the government. Water supply in the city and suburbs is unfair and insufficient, and the Thackeray family, who ruled the BMC for more than 25 years, ought to answer for it. As a trial project, the civic authority constructed a round-the-clock water delivery program and paid the consultant ₹400 crore. Numerous anomalies and the project’s failure need investigation,” he said

Also, he accused the Thackeray-led Maharashtra Vikas Aghadi administration of putting off the Aarey vehicle shed, which caused Metro-3 to be delayed for almost two years and resulted in a ₹10,000 crore price increase.

Conversely, Varsha Gaikwad, the leader of the Congress party’s Mumbai unit and MLA, took aim at Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the Bharatiya Janata Party about the Dharavi reconstruction project that Adani won. “The ‘friend’ is getting all the contracts from Dharavi to the airport colony.'” The contracts are given to Adani as though the government-owned land was Adani’s own. Operating out of BMC, two guardian ministers have been applying pressure on the commissioner within the civic body. She stated that the police commissioner and the policemen under investigation by the ED have to be moved right away.

A dispute broke out between the opposition and Treasury benches as a result of Gaikwad’s comments. Strong complaints were raised by BJP MLAs about the allusions to “friendship.” Gaikwad was cautioned by BJP MLA Amit Satam not to mention Prime Minister Narendra Modi because he is unrelated to the project. Should I discuss Rahul Gandhi’s “tamasha”? Satam asked. Both parties had verbal conversations as a result.

The ruling parties proposed a motion that included concrete roads spanning 450 km, the installation of seven sewage treatment plants, the completion of nearly all ongoing Metro projects within the next two years, a number of tax breaks, and changes to the regulations to make it easier for the city’s abandoned or old buildings to be developed again. During the debate, the BJP MLAs conveyed their appreciation to the government for enabling self-redevelopment, revitalizing seven marketplaces, building the ₹6,700 crore missing link on the Mumbai-Pune highway, and building the tunnel connecting Borivali and Thane, among other initiatives.

The motion is perceived as an attempt by the ruling parties, particularly the BJP, to showcase the government’s development initiatives ahead of the next Lok Sabha. The proposal was similar to the party’s previous “Dhanywad Devendra ji” effort, according to BJP leaders. The effort projects a number of initiatives carried out by the state government, headed by Fadnavis.
