Sikh IPS officer a “Khalistani”? This BJP politician is named by Bengal Police.
Who dubbed the Sikh IPS officer a “Khalistani”? ,The state’s leader of the opposition, Suvendu Adhikari of the BJP, is accused by the West Bengal Police of insulting a Sikh police officer with a “Khalistani” slur on Tuesday. The police have launched “strict legal action” in response to the incident.
The West Bengal police community is furious to release this video, in which the state’s Leader of the Opposition refers to one of our own officers as “Khalistani.” His “fault” is that he was attempting to uphold the law as a competent police officer and a proud Sikh.
“Malicious,” “racial,” and “communally inciting,” it declared of the incident.
The message went on, saying, “We categorically condemn the unwarranted, unacceptable attack on an individual’s religious beliefs intended to incite people to take to violence and break the law.”
The BJP officials and Jaspreet Singh, the IPS officer, got into a fight after he prevented a party delegation led by Adhikari from going into Sandeshkhali in the North 24 Parganas area. There, women were reportedly sexually abused by individuals associated with the ruling TMC.
“…because I have a turban on?”
The cop is shown objecting to the insult and enquiring as to whether the reason he was nicknamed “Khalistani” was his turban.
“Are you brave now? Does a police officer become a Khalistani if he wears a turban while performing his duties? Is this what you’re at? Singh enquired.
Mamata Banerjee, the chief minister of West Bengal, also responded to the event. She accused the opposition BJP of engaging in “divisive politics” and crossing “constitutional boundaries.”
