According to Shankaracharya, Ram mandir “pranapratistha without head, eyes or hair” is against the scriptures.

Shankaracharya

Jyotish Peeth Shankaracharya Avimukteshwaranand of Uttarakhand gave an explanation for the statement that the Ayodhya Ram Temple is not yet complete and that, as a result, he will not be allowed to attend the inauguration ceremonies since it would break holy scriptures. He believed that a temple is the body of God, with the head depicted by the ‘kalash’ and the eyes of God represented by the greatest point of the temple. The Shankaracharya believed that the flag of a temple is made of God’s hair. “It is wrong to give a body that without a head or eyes soul (pran-pratishtha). Hence, I will not be going there because if I go there people will say scriptures have been violated in front of me. Hence, we have raised the issue with responsible people, especially with the members of the Ayodhya Trust — that the celebration should be done once the temple is fully constructed. This contradicts what our scriptures say. I will not be going there, which means because if I do, people will claim that the Bible has been violated in front of me. Therefore, we have brought up the matter with those in power, particularly the Ayodhya Trust members, recommending that the celebration be held when the temple has been completed building.

What are the four Shankaracharyas, and why are they not attending the inauguration of the Ram Temple?

The four Shankaracharyas—in Uttarakhand, Odisha, Karnataka, and Gujarat—are the foremost authority on Hindu scriptures. They all four announced that they will not be participating the Ram Temple’s consecration event. This led to a great deal of controversy because the Congress used the Shankaracharya’s claim that the temple was not completed as excuse for refusing the invitation.
