Samsung Galaxy Book4 Pro review: A powerful and practical laptop built to last

A productivity machine featuring an amazing display and a long-lasting battery, but the ecosystem still requires improvement.

Rs. 1,81,990

I’ve always wanted to explore the Galaxy ecosystem because I own a Samsung phone, especially to see how well software and hardware are integrated. The Intel Core Ultra-powered Galaxy Book4 range of laptops was just announced by the South Korean electronics titan. And I was powerless to resist the opportunity to review the Galaxy Book4 Pro.

I’ve been using the Galaxy Book4 Pro for the past three weeks, and this is my review of it. How Apple’s ecosystem compares with Samsung’s is the key question here.

A premium finish

The Samsung Galaxy Book4 Pro is the perfect device for me because I like simplicity, especially when it comes to practicality as opposed to appearances. Although the laptop appears simple at first glance, it is much more powerful than that. It’s true that the Galaxy Book4 Pro is a robust laptop. Most customers, including those switching from a MacBook, find the Book 4 to be very comfortable thanks to its roomy keyboard and big trackpad, which has a separate NUM-pad.

The laptop comes with a metal unibody finish

The Galaxy Book4 is a 16-inch laptop that weighs 1.56 kg and is constructed of metal. In spite of its large specifications, it is surprisingly lightweight and portable. The USB-A port is one of the extra benefits, which is crucial for people like me who use gaming mice. In addition, I think having a full-sized HDMI 2.1 port on a laptop this size is a useful feature. In addition to a 3.5mm headphone connector, there are two USB-C connections and a MicroSD card slot.

A splendid display

Given Samsung’s reputation for high-quality display technology, the Galaxy Book4 Pro undoubtedly boasts one of the greatest 16-inch laptop screens available. The 16-inch OLED screen’s native resolution of 2880 x 1800p makes it appear crisp and vibrant. In addition, the anti-reflective coating makes sure that light reflections are reduced, improving viewing quality under all lighting scenarios.

While it isn’t the sharpest screen, it is definitely one of the brightest and colour accurate screens on a laptop

The majority of laptops have displays with corners that are sharply edged, but the Galaxy Book4 Pro has curved corners all around and looks more like a tablet than a laptop. Additionally, this is one of the largest touch-sensitive devices I have ever used. This machine’s 120Hz refresh rate makes sure that everything feels smooth.

Numerous benefits are associated with a large display. The Galaxy Book4 Pro served as my primary entertainment device. When I get off work early, I just grab my laptop and head to the coziest spot in the house to watch my favorite YouTube videos and movies. The Galaxy Book4 Pro’s AKG-tuned speakers are a great addition to the device for watching movies, but they still fall short of a 16-inch MacBook Pro M2 Pro’s clarity and volume.

The ecosystem experience

The integration between a Galaxy smartphone and a Galaxy Book is not quite as strong as that between an iPhone and a MacBook, therefore Samsung needs to improve its ecosystem. Nothing remarkable happened, even though my Galaxy Buds 2 instantly switched from my Galaxy S23 to Galaxy Book4 Pro. In fact, just like with any other Windows laptop, I had to configure this one using the Phone Link app in order to receive texts and calls.

Samsung still needs to work on its ecosystem

Additionally, programs such as Intel Unison can be configured, albeit again, this requires some preparation. In contrast, a MacBook and an iPhone that share the same Apple ID just function well together, requiring no complicated configuration. It’s interesting that Quick Share was pre-installed, which made file sharing between this laptop and my Android phone simple. If you want a laptop and a smartphone that sync with each other perfectly.

Powerful AI hardware

Samsung produced some of the earliest AI PCs with the Galaxy Book4 Pro. With 32 GB of RAM, 1 TB of internal storage, and an Intel Core Ultra 7 155H processor with Arc graphics, it is powerful. The laptop received 12484 points for the multi-core test and 2284 points for the single-core CPU test on Geekbench 6. The gameplay in Far Cry 6 was good, and I saw an average frame rate of 29 while playing at 1080p resolution and high visual settings.

This laptop provides AI-backed capabilities like auto-framing, backdrop blur, and eyesight correction on platforms like Zoom, Teams, and Google Meets for someone who participates in video conferences and online meetings. With its sharp photos, the 1080p webcam is perfect for taking images and videos. Additionally, for improved power efficiency, programs like Audacity are now optimized to utilize the NPU on the Intel Ultra Core processor. In the days to come, more services and apps probably will use the new AI processor.

Verdict: A productivity powerhouse

Samsung Galaxy Book4 Pro
A perfect large-screen laptop for productivity and content consumption

With a battery life of easily over seven hours (when used for tasks like web browsing and video streaming), the Samsung Galaxy Book4 Pro is a great laptop, especially for those looking for a dependable Windows laptop with a premium build, modern hardware, and great battery life. Although the absence of a dedicated GPU is somewhat disappointing, especially given the device’s Rs 1,81,990 price tag, this laptop still has all the features that the majority of consumers look for in a thin-and-light laptop.
